Dualit brings you this traditional savoury Latin American dish consisting of beef (or sometimes pork) and a variety of vegetable blends and chilli peppers. Originally sourced from Cuba, 'picadillo' derives from the word 'picar' meaning to chop, grind or mince in a culinary sense.

Method
  1. Heat oil in a large saucepan.
  2. Add the minced meat to a lightly oiled, hot frying pan and fry until the meat turns brown, then remove and set aside.
  3. Using the Dualit Hand Blender, finely chop the onion and garlic, then add both to a separate pan and gently fry until soft.
  4. Add the minced beef along with the chilli flakes, paprika, baharat and tomato puree - fry until browned.
  5. In a separate jug, crumble in and dissolve the oxo cubes in boiling water and stir.
  6. Add the chopped tomatoes and vegetable water to the saucepan. Stir and allow to simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Remove the saucepan from the heat and mix in the: beans, sweetcorn, sultanas and Worcester sauce then place back onto the hob to continue to cook on a low heat for another 30-40 minutes.
  8. Remove from the heat and allow to sit for 5 minutes.
  9. Finely chop the coriander and add to the saucepan.
  10. Serve on a bed of plain white rice with warm tortilla's or in a flatbread wrap.
